My Best Friend
“A friend in need is a
friend indeed” is a well known quote which is familiar to everyone.
It was Sunday
and I was going out to meet my friends. As I crossed the road in order to take the
bus, I heard mewing from beside me. There
were two kittens roughly a month old staring at me with its innocent looks and was
mewing. I love animals and I have unusual fondness towards them, one thing I don’t
bother is whether the animal is wild or tamed one.
At a snail's pace, I went close touched those kittens and
comforted them. They were too tiny that they did not know where to go. Somebody
would have left those kittens to die. This happens everywhere, leaving kittens and
puppies beside the road to the mercy of other people. I cancelled the plan to
meet my friends and took those little ones and walked back home. One of the
kittens were given for adoption, we named the other “Achu” and looked after
her.
I learnt all these
lessons from my father. He wouldn't even hurt a single creature. I have seen
him rescuing ant from water, holding spiders with his bare hands, taking care
of wounded birds, insects and so on.
After Achu’s death (Dec 29th 2008),
I wanted to make her painting based on the theme “Best
friend”. I never did so because I would summon up all the golden days and
memories of her, as she meant me a lot. Finally I drew a painting about two
best friends .i.e. a girl and a horse.
"Best Friend"-
you always held me by your side, when I needed heed and warmth. I
thank you mother (nature) for giving me such a valuable companion who
takes care of me just like a baby. Holding me close and walking with me, showering
true love.
